Fishing at Sundown
Living in the Mediterranean, I sometimes forget just how dramatic tide heights can be. So, when I saw this photograph by Stephen Mc Elligott I had a moment of shock and thought that Stephen had captured something disastrous, but then I realised everything was quite normal.
Apart from the attention grabbing subject matter of this shot, one of the things I really like about it is now the length of the exposure has given the sea a smooth silky texture and just softened the menacing clouds. I'm not sure if this is the calm before the storm or after it. Another element I like is the contrast between the warm rich tones of the foreground and the colder tones in the sky. A great photograph!
Stephen is fairly new to photography but has already made a name for himself, and when you see his photographs you can understand why. His landscapes and architectural work is particularly impressive, but he doesn't limit himself just to those styles. Please use the link above to see the image on 500px and take your time to browse through the rest of his work, I'm sure you'll like what you see.
