Yesterday's photo of the day was part of a project called Strong and Female, and today's image I believe is along the same theme. Skateboarding is traditionally associated with young men, so having a photograph of a young woman skating promotes a really positive image.
I chose this photo for my photo of the day because you get a real sense of speed as the girl moves through the course. Also, I like how the use of contrast makes the female skater stands out against the smooth light surface of the bowl. And hats off to photographer Theodore Lee for getting the exposure spot on, not an easy task considering the main source of light is towards the camera. A really great action shot!
