Mother and son
One of the aspects of photography that I love is how it can help us to get closer to other cultures. And this is just an absolutely lovely photograph by Hai Thinh. I don't know what plant the woman is cutting but it must be back-breaking work without a child wrapped around you, so I can only imagine what it must be like with that little fellow there. I love the face of the child who appears to be looking at something with great interest out of shot. The soft background also gives us an idea of where they are and the difficulties of living and working here. All in all this is a great shot of everyday life which gives us an insight into this woman's world.
Hai Thinh is more than a photographer, he is a storyteller too. His images convey so much about the places he travels to and the people he meets along the way too. I strongly recommend you use the link above to see the image on 500px and take your time to browse through the rest of his work. You'll like what you see.
