Nikon 1 discontinued
According to Nikon Rumors, the Nikon 1 series of mirrorless cameras has been discontinued and removed from the official Japanese website. Although, at the time of writing three models are still available on the European site.
The 1 series never had a happy life suffering from comparatively high prices, a non-standard hotshoe and worst of all a tiny image sensor with a crop factor of 2.7. Other manufacturers, including Sony, have continued to press ahead with higher specs for their mirrorless cameras, making them better options for the photographer.
As you probably know, Nikon is developing a new line of mirrorless cameras. Early next year two completely new full frame models should come to the market. With so much ground to make up on other manufacturers, Nikon is going to have to shrug off the poor performance of the Nikon 1, and come out with some quite spectacular new models.
