Avoriaz at night
I really like this photograph by fellow Institute of Photography student Helen Everatt because it looks like the stereotypical image of a mountain village: little houses covered in a thick layer of snow. Beyond that, I like how by using a long exposure, Helen has given the clouds a soft misty feel but has brought out the crispness of the snow, and how the street lighting works with the snow to illuminate the entire scene.
Helen has a limited portfolio online, but I especially enjoy her nature and wildlife image. Please use the link above to view this image on Flickr and take the time to browse through the rest of her work, I'm sure you'll like what you see.
