So this is a photo of my home town by French photographer Dominique Richeux, which I have to say has made me a little homesick. This part of London has become one of the most photographed locations, but what I think sets this photograph apart from most is the overall composition and lighting. As the title suggests, there is this contrast between old and new, but what I like most about this image is how the long exposure has given movement to the clouds and removed any people from the scene, making it appear deserted.
Dominique produces a range of images, but I particularly like his landscapes which are vivid and really evocative of the location. I strongly suggest you use the link above to view this image on 500px and take the time to browse through the rest of his work. You won't regret it.
