Asian openbill stork
I am not generally a big wildlife photography fan, although I appreciate the hard work and patience required to take such images. However, this shot by Indian photographer Soumen Roy Chowdhury caught my eye. I really like the position of the stork, I assume as it comes into land, with it's wide open wings and the neck and head providing balance for the long legs. I also like how the background is uncluttered, and how Soumen has got the focus spot on so that the bird is in sharp focus and the background blurred. A really effective shot!
Soumen is new to 500px where I saw his image and although he has a limited portfolio for now, it is evident that he is a talented wildlife photographer, and one to watch out for in the future.
