Nature is amazing. So many aspects of it fascinate me, and one of these is thunder storms. You can quite literally feel them in the air, possibly because our brains are constantly firing electrical impulses we are attracted to the electricity in the air. I like nothing more than sitting on my veranda and watching a storm as it passes by.
I really like this photograph by Ian McCamley, firstly because it shows the power and beauty of a thunder storm. That central bolt of lightning is just like the ones you see in films, created with special effects. Secondly, and more importantly to me as an amateur photographer, is the skill in capturing such an image. It takes experience to ensure that you have got the right exposure, the right depth of field and the right composition. A great shot that I would happily have on a wall at home.
Ian is an incredibly talented photographer, his landscapes and cityscapes in particular are captivating and an inspiration to people like myself to go out and push the boundaries.
