There is something about carousels, they evoke so many memories in so many people. This wonderful portrait by Scott Morvay conjures up memories of seeing a pretty girl riding another horse and never being able to catch her up. I really like this photograph, firstly because the model transmits a sense of the exotic mysterious gypsy girl who traditionally works at the fairground. Also, Scott has managed to light the model perfectly and obtain a pin-sharp image despite the carousel rotating. A truly evocative portrait.
Scott has a limited portfolio on Flickr but his work is well-worth seeing. Please use the link above to see the image on Flickr, where you can read an anecdote about the taking of this photograph, and take your time to browse through the rest of his work. I'm sure you'll like it.
