Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak
The floating market in Bangkok is one of the most amazing places I have been lucky enough to visit. Although it has become a bit of a tourist attraction now, when I visited it over 20 years ago I was able to see how the real local people went about a part of their daily lives. Seeing this image by American photographer Wayne S. Grazio brought back so many happy memories.
I particularly like this photograph because of the point of view from which Wayne took this shot. Being at the same level as the sellers makes us feel part of the market. I also like how the look on the faces of the two women on the left, their attention seems to have been attracted by something they don't approve of. And then there is their produce, the fruit and vegetables all look so fresh. This is a very evocative shot, well done.
Wayne's photographic journey is fascinating and his style is truly eclectic. I strongly recommend that you use the link above to see this image on Flickr and take your time to browse through the rest of his work, I'm sure you'll like what you see.
